Law Enforcement and First Responders

Law enforcement and first responders are the heroes who witness the type of tragedy, horror, and destruction that most could never imagine. Putting their own feelings about what they have witnessed aside, they work tirelessly to save others in crisis. Over time, this can contribute to the onset of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I have been working extensively with retired and active members of law enforcement for years. This work includes creating space for police officers and first responders to process the devastating events they have witnessed. Processing these memories helps to prevents flashbacks and nightmares of devastating or disturbing events.

Treatment Approach

As a psychotherapist with experience in working with patients who have experienced traumatic events, I provide trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness skills, grounding techniques, and overall help with making sense of tragedy and finding meaning in the future that lies ahead.

Trainings and Speaking Engagements

In addition to providing counseling in my Blackwood location, I also have presented at a variety of different law enforcement conferences on the effects of exposure to violence or trauma and the significance of having resources available for officers in order to preserve their mental and physical health.
